Just got accepted to a PMBA program from Utah State. It was a kind of crappy day until now.
Also, another thing I wrote was published and I will now shove it down your throats want to share it with you. Enjoy!

Unsolicited advice time. This comes from years of watching graduate students attempt and fail to complete graduate school. What you are taking on is especially difficult, part because it’s online, part because you are working full-time. The following suggestions are from my own experience and from talking to students who managed to complete a graduate degree while still maintaining a job and/or family.
Set aside a dedicated school space.
Set aside a dedicated time every day where everyone knows they are not allowed to disturb you unless the house is burning down.
Make your study space as private, quiet and comfortable as possible.
Buy some noise-cancelling headphones .
Get a dedicated computer and don’t put any games on it.
Get yourself at least two monitors.
Get a subscription to Office365 if you don’t already have access to Office.
Upgrade your internet so you don’t have problems with the online lectures and with uploading assignments.
I highly recommend getting a small out building with power, a/c, etc. that can be used as an office way away from distractions. Put a small fridge in it and keep it stocked with snacks.
All of these things will help you be successful. The graduation rate from master’s programs is somewhere between 51% and 74%, depending on the study you read. Your chances of completing the program go down with age and with other obligations.
Completing my doctorate was one of the hardest things I’ve done, especially with a wife and two kids. Having a quiet space to work uninterrupted was the key to completing it.
Good luck to you, my frien d!

Many people and companies will happily sell you a radio that is illegal to operate without a license.
Cough, RR.

I think I will be alright as my work load is only moderate right now and I’ve already set aside a quiet den where I am mostly left alone. my kids are old enough that they know not to bother me when I’ m in there. The good news is that I rock the nights, and my lectures are all in the evenings so I can get a lot done in the quiet time of the night and not affect my work life. no one cares if I start work at 930 and I can work effectively to midnight.

For a second I thought that said “blindness school”.
Oh the irony lol

Congratulations!!!
As someone currently in the throes of graduate school, I’ d offer advice but it would basically be everything TheRealBicycleBuck said, and he has a doctorate. He's smarter, so listen to him!

Freakin Rugged Radios. They don’t even mention their radios require a license. I’ve called out TFL on using their radios on a number of occasions. People selling radios know the FCC is toothless right now.

MBA is easy , with the exception of accounting, and stats. Those are 1000% nightmare suck . My MBA was a lot of case studies and they were all super interesting. Good luck with that there buddy.

Thats what Im hoping for

To add insult to injury, they don’t mention anywhere (that I can find) what bands they use, so even if you want to play by the rules you’re out of luck doing any research in advance.
Want to know what other radios you might be able to talk to? Tough shit.

Well there isn’t a mystery, they are just Baofeng HAM radios redressed to look spangly. They are 2m/70cm radios most of the time or GMRS.

I was under the impression they were locked down to some of the bands reserved for business licensees.

I’m glad to hear that you’re planning ahead and already have a good space to work . Those are key to success.

The worst part is the touchy feely management bullshit. This is coming from a (really successful) manager. Most management theory is bullshit.

Not smarter. Just more stubborn. As a professor once told me before I started grad school, “getting a doctorate is not a reflection of your intelligence, it’s an exercise in perse verance.”

Hey , congrats!
You’ve already received a lot of good advice here, but I’ll just add one more reminder: Your most important partner in this is your partner. She’s going to be doing more parenting and housework than usual in order to ensure you get the time you need to study. Remember to thank her profusely, and publicly, so that she feels the gratitude she most certainly deserves. A nd make sure you’re both setting aside time for her needs/fun/ breaks.
Good luck!

I’m not sure what you were taught, but I am finding what I was taught to be infinitely applicable.

This sounds like my approach to education. If you keep trying long enough, and hard enough, eventually they will get tired of you and give you a piece of paper so you will go away. It worked in undergrad, and I think its going to work in grad school too. Im starting class 5 of 10 this fall.

At the doctorate level, it’s pretty rare for someone to get kicked out. They have to be absolutely terrible. Most either fail courses until they realize they will never pass, fail their prelims/ comprehensive/oral exams, or never have their major professor give them permission to take the exams in the first place. It’s the passive-aggressive move in academia to get rid of the under- performing students. Many students finish their coursework, leave to start a job with full intentions of finishing their master’s thesis or dissertation, then never return. Ten years go by and they are disqualified. That’s why I tell people it’s better to go full time until you’re done and if you MUST take a job, take a local job and don’t leave town. Once the bags are packed, it’s almost impossible to finish.

Nope, in fact they are super open beyond what your ham license allows

Regardless, information they should be publishing, not hiding.

Especially so. Not only can they transmit illegally for gmrs but also ham. I've been very unimpressed with rr

It was all theory without any meat. No psychology. No peer reviewed studies. No game theory or social engineering or understanding how to train out bad habits and replace with desirable ones. It was mostly: here’s the three types of feedback; ask open ended questions; be approachable.

Oh yeah that junk is useless. Its power structures, psych, and game theory I use the most.
